ABOUT US
Mission
To provide a helping hand to those in the community seeking support.
Vision
To see everyone in the community of Salisbury have access to food and basic necessities.
History
Salisbury Helping Hands has served the community of Salisbury for 23 years. It began with the community coming together to help a family in need during the Christmas season. Enough was given to support five families. Upon receiving such overwhelming support from the community and Salisbury United Church, another six families were supported the following Christmas. Another year passed and more people began to become involved and funding was received to continue growing to reach even more families. Boots, coats, toys, stocking stuffers, and turkeys were purchased and given to these families. Lead by Rose MaGee, Salisbury Helping Hands grew each year and began working with numerous organizations in the community including the Lions Club, Salisbury Legion, local churches, schools, and businesses. Realizing that the village was in need of a food bank, Rose MaGee expanded the organization to provide support throughout the year. Through much perseverance, charitable status was granted in 2014. This opened up new doors and brought in more funding.
Salisbury Helping Hands is now run by Tammy Constantine and a dedicated volunteer staff. Each person who comes to Salisbury Helping Hands is provided with any needed food and toiletries. These items are provided by donations throughout the year and the Christmas food drive. Our goal is to continue to grow to be able to help more people in the community.
